Bangkok - Sukhumvit

Ended up staying two nights at Green Point, then got a transfer to our new Hotel in Sukhumvit Bangkok, where the manager at Green Point spoke to the manager here at Varindavan Park to give us a good price. We paid 790 bht at green point (about $25 a night) and we are paying 1000 bht here (about $32) - so he's done a good job in our eyes! But apparently we are so far FLASHPACKING (considering I haven't put my bag on my back once, I reckon that might be the case, thanks for the trolley mum!)…we know as we move out of the city, our accommodation costs will come down as will our rooms.

Anyway, I shall be quiet about the cheeeepness and start talking about the SUGAR, it is in everything in large quantities. I am addicted. Yogurt is made out of sugar and coconut jelly. Delicious! Orange Juice is just Sugar derivative with some orange flavour added, cakes are everywhere, coffee comes in little cans, cold and laden with Sugar…Dad made a coffee from a 3 in 1 sachet with coffee, sugar and milk in it (which are everywhere here) and then added extra sugar. Pretty sure the butter I put on my toast this morning had sugar in it...

So here we are in Sukhumvit, we went for a walk last night and then took a cab to THE BIG C, like Kmart/Coles/Big W rolled into one, Awesome! So we bought bananas, yogurt and cake,  had an extra cheap dinner ($4 for both of us) and then told the cabbie the wrong address to get us home. We ended up approx 15 mins off course and just $1 over the fare we expected, so it was actually really great to get a tour of the town at night.. Off for an explore this morning to central Bangkok!

Needless to say, the room is nice and clean but the serenity we had a green point is a little amiss…these pics are from our balcony, and a shot from the cab. Also a shot of the safety deposit box, getting chained to the sink!

Bangkok - Nonchok

Arrived at Bangkok airport, which is huge and very modern…unfortunately baggage claim wasn’t modern enough to teleport Dave’s missing bag from it’s hiding spot to baggage claim…reported it missing, then caught our Transfer to the hotel.

Green Point was a great place to land after no sleep, clean modern rooms, nice staff, very quiet and peaceful. Awoke and swam in the pool for a few hours, while Dave did a bit of a gym session…We had the pool and gyme all to ourselves and were starting to suspect we were the only one’s staying here…but we have spotted a few guests including some Thai people.

Our FAVOURITE guest is the girl who rocked up on the back of a motorcycle clutching a GIANT Cheshire cat. Not kidding, cat on back of motorbike. So funny I had to run downstairs to meet this cat, who didn’t seem keen on me touching him, considering he went for a ride on a motorbike I was a little offended. But after some more bonding, we are now friends…fluffiest cat ever!

Dave’s luggage also rocked up, yay..recommend that you stay here from some R&R if you come to Bangkok, but don't expect to get to the city in less than 30 mins - more of a country get away :)

Some pics of the pool, and the 'paddock's' sorrounding the hotel...
